Memorial Day - 2005

I hope you are having a wonderful memorial day. Here in Georiga, it is rainy and drab! But that doesn't dampen the spirit of family togetherness and graditude!
We as a people of America should be thankful for all the wonderful men and women who are serving and have served our country, many of whom have paid the ultimate sacrifice of giving their lives for our freedom. We should also be eternally grateful for the ONE who gave His life for our SOUL! Thank you JESUS!
Have a wonderful Memorial Day!

Hope Concerts
Well, the first official Hope Through Hilarity concerts have been booked. I will be at Brim's Grove Baptist Church on June 25 & 26, 2005 in Pilot Mountain, NC.
Now, you may remember Pilot Mountain from the old Andy Griffith Shows. In the show, he called it Mount Pilot. But that is the same place. It is only about 20 minutes or so from Mt. Airy, NC which is the town Mayberry was based on. So, while I am there, I am going to look forward to checking out any Andy Griffith Show stuff, cause that truly is one of the best shows ever. A real icon of American Television History.

Memorial Day Weekend
I would like to ask you to pray for Donny and me as we will be ministering this Sunday at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Tucker, Georgia on Sunday morning, followed by an afternoon concert at 2 pm in honor of Memorial Day. We should all honor our men & women who have served, are serving, and who have died for our freedom!
In the main worship time, Donny is going to sing the great song he wrote called Going Away, with video backing him up. If you haven't seen and heard this, you can go to this link now and view it online:

After the main worship service, we will be doing about a 45 minute concert in their fellowship hall and the church is catering the food from The Varsity resturant in Atlanta. If you are not from Atlanta and don't know of The Varsity, well, it is a true landmark with great hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, and onion rings. It is a total "grease pit" which is my favorite type of food! You know it is greasy when you take one of their fries and dip it deep into the ketchup and when you pull it out, there is still no ketchup on the fry!! Now that is "eatin'!"

Babbie Mason Music Conference!

WOW, what a time I had at Babbie Mason's music conference. She is a wonderful minister, singer, lady, and friend! What a great spirit she has.
My friend Donny Henderson and I had the awesome privilege to minister in her conference worship service on Thursday night in front of all her conference participants. In the audience was the great praise and worship leader, Mr. Ron Kenoly, who came up after and lead the congregation in two great praise and worship numbers. Now that was a treat and the Lord showed up!!

During the conference, I had the privilege of teaching 2 sessions on Friday on how to get calls for concert bookings and 2 on Saturday on ministry web sites. During that time, I was able to meet many new artists who are getting their ministries going and let me tell you, there are some great ones who God is going to greatly use!
Also, I got to spend some time with an old friend who I hadn't seen in years, Mr. Bubba Smith. He was with WORD Records for many years and is now with Daywind Records in Nashville. He is a talented producer and heads up the Publishing Division at Daywind. If you saw the movie, "Fighting Temptations," then you've seen his work. He produced a few of the numbers in that movie.
Others at the conference included Helen Baylor, Phil Johnson, (who wrote "The Day He Wore My Crown"), D'Vine, Randy Bugg of Twelve Oaks Studios, my friend and awesome comdian/songwriter, Anita Renfroe, and many many others. I can't remember them all.
If you want to experience an annointed event and learn so very much about the Christian music ministry, then you need to sign up and go to Babbie's Music Conference next year. You can learn all about it at http://www.babbie.com/ .
Oh, and it was held at Simpsonwood Conference Center in Norcross, GA which is really beautiful! And the food! WOW! It was great food and lots of it. That right there was worth going. You don't want to miss it next year.
Well, I've gone on enough. Thanks for reading my blog and stay in touch!
Scott
